Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) National HIV/AIDS Policy
Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) (June 2004)
Order for free
The Church of Nigeria, in its effort to reduce the spread of HIV in the Church and the community, has recognized a number of key factors which affect the HIV/AIDS epidemic within the country. These include the lack of appropriate HIV/AIDS knowledge within the country, the Church and the Clergy, high levels of stigma and discrimination, and inadequate care and support services for people living with, or affected by, HIV/AIDS. These factors have the potential to limit the impact of the Church's HIV/AIDS program; increase the spread of HIV within the community, and increase the hardships faced by people living wtih HIV/AIDS. This policy is intended to address these factors. The policy, therefore, is intended to improve the Church's effectiveness and efficiency in controlling the psread of HIV and improve the conditions of persons living with or affected by HIV/AIDS.
