Abstract

National Plan of Action on Food and Nutrition in Nigeria
Government of Nigeria (April 2004)

 Order for free

The problems of hunger and malnutrition in Nigeria are more widespread and severe now than ever before. It has been estimated that the percentage of Nigerian households that are food insecure has risen from 18% in 1968, to over 40% in 1998, and over 70% in 2003. The primary objective of the National Plan of Action on Food and Nutrition is to translate the foals, objectives, and strategies articulated in the National Policy on Food and Nutrition into implementable activities and projects. This will be acheived in the context of implementing, as vigorously as possible, projects and activities that will improve the nutritional status of all Nigerians with particular emphasis on the most vulnerable groups (children, women and the elderly).
