AIDS 2004 Bangkok POLICY @ Bangkok 2004

The XV International AIDS Conference, to be held in Bangkok, July 11-16, will provide the world community with an opportunity to reflect on and commit to the policies and programs that ensure "Access for All." The increased resources being devoted to HIV/AIDS through new global initiatives have been met by a growing need to provide treatment to those living with the disease, to avert new infections in both low- and high-prevalence areas, to provide support to orphans and others affected by the epidemic, and to break the silence and stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS, which serves as a significant barrier to service use.

Now more than ever, countries must strategically plan their priorities, invest in and strengthen those programs that will have the greatest impact, and involve the communities and groups most affected by the epidemic. POLICY has several events planned to help raise awareness of the need to create an enabling environment that supports access for all in terms of HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and care.
