POLICY Project Countries
Asia and the Near East
While a number of countries in the Asia and Near East (ANE) region have achieved economic successes, they face several hurdles in terms of public health that could reverse these gains or hinder future development. Large populations, high fertility rates, emerging HIV/AIDS epidemics, and high maternal mortality rates threaten future social and economic progress.
Throughout the ANE region, POLICY works with government and civil society institutions to strengthen and sustain family planning/reproductive health (FP/RH), HIV/AIDS, and maternal health programs. The major areas of POLICY assistance in the region are policy formulation; strategic planning; awareness raising and advocacy; sustainability; multisectoral partnerships; and local institutional capacity building.
